Ok, so clipping right along with our list. We've managed to complete all the Thanksgiving things, and even throw in some inaugural Black Friday Shopping for me (which has me saying shopping for some people is actually finished and just needs to be wrapped and shipped; yea for Black Friday and on-line shopping!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
HOWEVER....
Saturday, Sunday, and Monday after Thanksgiving I was down with the cold that's going around and knocking everyone out for several days. It's been almost a week and I'm doing better but not my normal better for this long after a cold hits.
On top of the personal stuff going on more is added to my plate during the work hours; holiday luncheon (two days and two nights--gotta provide for the shift workers too), a blood drive, a food & toy drive, plus whatever other projects creep up on me before the Holidays are over.
Additionally, Dan has the 23-26 off of work. I have just the 24th & 25th (odd I know but that's how it is). We're now contemplating the idea of me taking of the 23rd & 26th off so we can go visit family for Christmas.
Nature has many who snuggle down and hibernate for winter, I'm thinking that's top on my list for Spring this year!

Caution: Laughter Likely
We just received an email from Sid letting us know his 5th and final area for his mission--Rugby, ND to open a new area and train a new missionary! (Or for the next 6 weeks at least, I suppose he could have one more transfer but it's not likely as they usually train a new Elder for 2 transfers.) Here's a little from Sid's letter regarding this new transfer:
"I've been given a special assignment. Rugby, ND is a new branch and the area has never seen missionaries before. I will literally be going in and starting from scratch. And I'll be with a new missionary! Rugby is...almost literally in the middle of nowhere...This is missionary work at its rawest and purest form. President Layton told me that he spent a lot of time fasting and praying about who he was to trust with the assignment of opening this area and getting the work started there. I am honored to be trusted with this assignment."
I looked for Rugby on our map . At first I could only find Minot (next closest area in his mission) but thanks to Google Maps, I was able to figure out which direction to look to find his new area. It's an almost 11 hour drive from Casper (his current area) to his new area and just over an hour's drive to Minot. He thinks he's closer to Canada than Minot but again using Google Maps it looks like Minot is about 2 hours drive closer than the Canadian border.
He included a few pictures with his quick note. This one had me laughing out loud because there seems to be an appropriateness to it!
I'm so excited for our goofball to come home! Only 89 days from today until Sid is home!

Maybe that seemed so appropriate after seeing pictures like these from his most recent 4-some companionship:
Sid's view from inside the bathroom...
(Can you find all three Elder's faces?)
The view from outside the bathroom...
(They are either super fast or Sid was in there for a VERY long time..)

Bahaha & LOL
A few weeks ago, we bought these postcards on our return drive from visiting Amanda. They made us laugh out loud so I thought I'd share them for you to enjoy as well. (Late one night while I was contemplating what to write on the backs, I reread these and had to stifle my laughter so I didn't awaken Dan.)
One of our funnest and favorite date nights!
Dan has his third interview with them next week.

Presidential Contemplations
Several weeks ago I drove past this billboard and thought of Sid:
I sent a copy to Sid and asked him to label each person for us so we'd know who was which companion. He just called dibs on Thomas Jefferson.
About the same time I took my picture, Sid took this one:
What a wing-nut.

On Second Thought
We've done well to rotate our mattress and a few weeks ago Dan suggested that we should rotate it more than every 6 months. Our mattress is made such that we can only rotate the head and foot, flipping it over doesn't work. By his saying we should do it more frequently he was saying right that very moment. I was somewhat supportive of this suggestion. Now if you have ever rotated a mattress you know it's not easy and takes some maneuvering. We have a king sized bed and have only a couple feet of space from the bed to the walls. To try to utilize our space, I suggested we use my dresser as our foot board. Needless to say, rotating our bed in this bedroom would be challenging. Part way through this task, Dan also realized just how difficult this might be...

Beauties and Beasts
My list is caught up, mostly. I mentioned wanting to post about a lightening storm but all previous attempts resulted in an error message. I will try one more time and if I receive the same results, I will give up the idea.
Meanwhile, while the video is posting (hopefully) I will move forward with other things in an attempt to not remain in catch-up mode.
The first weekend in August we did a little vacation to Utah to visit my family and Amanda. We stayed at Kevin & Kelley's and had a great visit with them. On Friday we spent the day at Lynette's. Cambree was off to a swimming party but we captured a picture with the three girls and myself before she left.
After eating at Noodles & Co we headed over to Frogert for build your own frozen yogurt yumminess:
We spent some time playing games, Shayla and Dan were on the same team and working together on their picture and phrase:
Swinging on the swings:
Something upset T:
But within seconds everything was right with the world again:
Cameron wasn't very patient and this was the better of our two self portraits and he ran off as soon as this one was taken:
We even spent some time playing a very unique version of 500 with the girls' new football:
Time for bed...when you've had your hair in lots of ponies all day, you end up with quite the bedtime hairdo.
After the girls headed into bed and Kevin, Kelley, & Cameron left, Dan and I drove to Morgan to spend a couple days with Amanda and attend the MORGAN COUNTY FAIR and RODEO!
We were able to witness the FFA & 4-H livestock auction. The kids raised cows, sheep, or hogs that were auctioned off after the judging. All the money received goes directly to the student who did the work. The animals went to the slaughter house and the buyers were able to then have a stash of meat for future dinners.
These tiny girls raised the cows they are showing!
This hog did NOT want to cooperate!
There were some boys auctioning off their livestock too:
I loved watching this guy help with the bids. He'd get so excited for each and every time someone upped the ante.
Amanda volunteered us to help in the fair office for much of the afternoon. Then we headed back to her apartment for some dinner and a brief rest before returning for the rodeo and fireworks show that followed.
The rodeo was typical of most rodeos; there were rodeo beauties, bull riding, bronco riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, mutton bustin', and barrel racing:
They continued to tell us to stay in our seats for the fireworks show. We did, the only problem was they were in the sky right behind a tree so we couldn't see anything. So much for sitting down to watch the show, we decided to stand around with everyone else to watch:
Also on our Morgan Visit Agenda was meeting Amanda's boyfriend, Jake. We met him first via Skype in May when Sid called home and have continued to Skype with Amanda and him several times in the last few weeks. But this was our first face-to-face visit. He was a part of most of our events while in Morgan and we are impressed. We're crossing our fingers that he will continue to be a part of Amanda's life and maybe even join the family.
Our only concern is that learned he's a bit of a character...
Then again he may fit in after all...
Giving up the idea for now.

We'd decided to take Shayla out for lunch for her 8th birthday. She was kind enough to let her youngest sister, Tianne join us:

Aloha! From Idaho
Amanda went to Hawai'i for work in January! (We don't hold that against her any longer, well not often anyway...) She was kind enough to send us a package of goodies and prizes that she picked up for us on her trip. We each received some Hawaiian clothing, Dan a shirt and me a dress with the instructions that we were to take some crazy pictures in our new clothes and send them to Sid.
We willingly accepted this challenge, however, due to the craziness of our life at the time the assignment just pressed on my mind. I can proudly report that our assignment was finally completed the Friday night of Independence Day Weekend.
Dan and I put on our Hawaiian outfits and some leis then walked down to the elementary school a couple blocks away for our "photo shoot." It was just the two of us so we took turns with the camera and used the self timer. It was a fun memory and we enjoyed completing the assignment.
